There will be more and more robots in agriculture

For tens of years, crops have been harvested with machines, but only for a few crops, since many of them are delicate and difficult to handle. And there are incorporated more or less dedicated robots.

Some time ago I showed a robot that planted and collected asparagus, and since the needs are many and diverse, other types of machines (robots) have appeared that are capable of collecting more delicate products.

This is the case of lettuce. They are planted in large areas one after another, and their manual collection is very heavy for people, especially for their lower back.

To solve this problem, they have developed a robot called Vegebot that uses artificial vision to determine when a lettuce is in conditions to be picked, and then does it.

It can be seen in the following video:

It is still a prototype, and therefore it does the work slowly, and it only takes a little time for an expert automation company to industrialize it and be faster and more efficient.

And not only in lettuces, robots are also used to collect the small red fruits to automate their collection.

You can see it in the following video:

And over time for almost any type of agricultural product, you will have a more or less specific machine (robot) for its collection.

Taking into account the expected population increase in the next tens of years, this will have to increase agricultural production, and it will not do it with many more people, but with many more machines.

Automation goes everywhere, without exceptions.
