The stupidity of very expensive bottled waters

Because some of them are very, very expensive.

We are approaching a world in which more than half of the population will have a shortage of water by 2050, and on the other hand every day appear new bottled waters that are sold at high prices as if they were the elixir of eternal youth.

Because that’s how they advertise, promising health and youth. And that people “buy it” very well.

For example, the slogan of the Evian brand says: Drink youth.

And every time it sells more, and at good prices.

The bottled water business does not stop growing. And I think the reasons are two.

On the one hand the increase in human consumption, because we consume more and more water per inhabitant.

And on the other hand (and perhaps related to the previous one) the decrease in the quality of drinking water that we have in our homes.

Conclusion: more bottled water is bought.

And when it comes to selling bottled water, there are always some “artists” looking for ways to differentiate their product.

As a positive example we have the people of Perrier who were able to distribute their water from France to the whole world (they had great success in the USA) as a reference of “quality and exclusivity”.

It is not easy to sell bottled water and differentiate yourself from the competition. You have to be very ingenious to try to be different, and any excuse is valid.

Convincing people to pay a high price for something that is almost the same as any other water requires resorting to people’s most intimate emotions. And there are some that do very well.

An example is that of Svalbaröi. These nice people sell water bottles for $ 90 each, but of course it is Norwegian glacier water.

A pretty bottle and a scandalous price makes some people feel good about themselves when they buy them.

Because let’s not fool ourselves dear friends, there are many people with a lot of money who want to differentiate themselves from the “others” who don’t have their purchasing power. That makes them feel special.

And the people of Svlabaröi take advantage of their stupidity. Nothing to complain about.
