The fight for user data

With the new modification included by Apple in the new version of its operating system iOs in which the user’s permission is requested so that an APP can access their personal data, a war has been unleashed between Facebook and Apple in which they are also including many small businesses.

Facebook has faced Apple because this modification fully affects its business model, which is the management and sale of user data, and it does so by hiding behind small businessmen who have an APP to connect with their customers.

It is true that everyone will be affected, but the use that Facebook makes of this issue is demagogic. They care about their own business and very little about other people.

If the users of these mobiles decide not to accept that they use their data, the income of those who use it and / or sell it to others will vary significantly.

But this happens in all markets.

It was about time someone put some kind of limitation on the use of user data without any kind of control. I didn’t expect Apple to do it but I’m glad they started it, and I think it says a lot in their favor.

I have seen complaints (supported by Facebook) from small businesses that with these limitations they will not be able to make personalized ads as they have done until now. Well, I’m sorry for them, but they will have to change the orientation of their business and respect the wishes of users regarding the use of their data.

I think the step taken by Apple should be the first of many others, and it should be the authorities that generate mandatory standards for companies when it comes to respecting the data of their customers and / or users.

The “wild west” where everyone does what they want with user data has lasted for more than 20 years, and it has to end as soon as possible.

And it is the governments that must take the initiative !!!
