Not only enemies hack, but friends too

In the spy world of a few dozen years ago, everyone was spying on each other, not only on “enemies” but also on friends.

And the same thing happens again now with electronic espionage and information “hacking”.

Just over a month ago Google published the news that it had detected an expert group of “hackers” entering Western systems taking advantage of vulnerabilities in iOS, Android and Windows, and that these hackers were agents of Western intelligence.

That is, supposed friends hacking other friends.

As this is a very sensitive issue, the names of the agencies involved were not published but I am sure that the US authorities (and others) will have that information.

It is more than clear that when it comes to security, you can never be completely sure, and that you always have to be alert, observing not only your enemies but also your friends.

Since this case is not the first time it happens. Similar cases have occurred in the recent past, which are generally solved with a few “apologies” to so-called “friends” and blaming someone at the bottom echelon; because there always has to be a “culprit” who takes the scolding.

The same Google security experts in the past have worked for government agencies and more than once have done hacking work for those governments. Innocents do not exist in this field.

I guess the folks at Google found themselves in a very awkward situation when they discovered the “problem” because they work all over the world and the least they need is to find additional enemies.

This case is one of many, and will continue to be. We will find out what “they” want us to know, because the less we know, the less worries we will have.

Who said that knowing made us freer?
