Investments in renewable energy have decreased
The IEA (International Energy Agency) released a statement recently notifying of the huge drop that had occurred in investments in renewable energy with the crisis of the Covid-19.
It is true that due to the pandemic consumption was reduced momentarily, and therefore the consequent polluting effects, but when activity recovers we will again need to use energy, and it is a very serious mistake to have stopped investing in obtaining clean energies that allow us to grow without contaminating our environment.
According to the IEA, Asian countries (and China in particular) continue to invest in new coal plants to produce the necessary energy in the coming years. And taking into account the duration of the plants’ useful life, this means that they will continue to pollute long after 2050.
The problem of obtaining clean energy and climate change is almost certainly the most serious one that we face, but we do not take it with the seriousness that it requires, even after the attention call received with the Covid-19.

Scientists have been warning of coming problems for dozens of years, but world leaders (and most of us) remain blind on their way to a major global showdown between the worst affected and the least affected.
It is not the end of the planet, but a great change that will polarize our societies, generating very serious confrontations and problems at all levels.
You cannot put up gates in the field, and the fences and walls end up being overcome sooner or later.
Those who are most desperate and have nothing to lose will go to the least affected areas to try to find a life, with the generation of strong social tensions, in which everyone will lose.
We are still in time to correct our path, and to a large extent it involves encouraging and investing in all kinds of non-polluting activities, which on the one hand generate more future types of work, and help to maintain our environmental surroundings.
Hopefully we will do it as soon as possible.
