IKEA also builds houses

It does so through a joint venture in which it participates and is called BoKlok. In the Nordic countries it has built more than 11,000 homes for more than 10 years, and now it will also start in England.

It will do so in the city of Worthing, which is located on the south coast of England near Brighton. And the election has not been casual, but rather it has been promoted by local authorities to try to get more affordable housing for its citizens.

In that area, the current average prices of the houses currently represent the order of 12 times the average income of a person, and with this action they intend to reduce it significantly.

The houses are modular and can be up to 3 rooms, depending on the needs. And due to the ability of IKEA to also offer furniture and other accessories at low prices and with acceptable quality, they expect the total price of these homes to be below the average for the area, and thus facilitate housing for people with lower wages.

The idea seems pretty good to me. The municipal managers have the obligation to look for alternatives so that their citizens have a life as affordable and pleasant as possible.

In some countries, as is the case in Spain, modular and prefabricated construction is not very popular, and they are only used in country houses for summer uses.

On the other hand, it is a viable alternative, especially for people who start buying their own home. It is a cheaper alternative and can be a good way to start getting your own home.
