Amazon and the huge health business
Not long ago I read that Amazon bought a year ago the PillPack company ( based in San Francisco ) for selling on-line pharmaceuticals, and already has permits to sell in the rest of the USA.
On the other hand, the collaboration that has been established with the British health service NHS has appeared in the media, in the sense that when Alexa users ask about medical issues, their answers come directly through the NHS.
Apparently the collaboration between a company and the Administration is very normal and positive, and the bet is very smart on Amazon’s part. The company will continue to accumulate user information about their illnesses or ailments, and that information will be very useful to offer advice as well as pharmaceutical products.
When people ask Alexa about a safe ailment it will respond with the possible treatment recommended by the NHS, but it can also suggest the purchase of the corresponding medication.
The ease of collecting information that smart speakers have (Alexa, Google Home, and others) is huge and growing every day.
Amazon (with Alexa) have it clearer every day, because among its business units is the sale of products. Almost any kind of products. And now also pharmaceutical products.
The people of Amazon aren’t silly at all.
