A robot to change the wheels of cars

I have seen with interest a robot installed in a tire shop in Fountain Hills (Arizona) that is dedicated to changing the wheels of the cars that come to the shop, and does it in less than 25 min. Someone may say that it is a little less than what a human takes, but the work is done with hardly any human intervention, and the said robot can work as many hours as necessary.

This is the robot from the RoboTire company that is designed to be placed in any of the thousands of car repair shops around the world .

It consists of two robotic arms that move along the two sides of the car, and change the wheels automatically. The operator only has to change the tire on each rim.

And you can see a video at: https://youtu.be/66GTwZwg6gw

Every day that passes we will see new applications of robots to perform all kinds of jobs. Depending on the specialization they can be more or less expensive, but for the case at hand there are thousands of potential “customers” all over the world, and that means that their price can drop quickly as new units are sold. Large manufactures always drive prices down.

I wish the best to our friends of RoboTire. The idea deserves it.
