A futuristic motorcycle?
That’s what it looks like, even if it turns out to be a mixture of several things. It is the Niu TQi-GT model
It looks a lot like a BMW motorcycle from over 20 years ago that had 2 wheels and was covered similarly to this one, and by the way not many units were sold.
To this new Niu model, in addition to putting two wheels in the front, they have been added all the current improvements to achieve a motorcycle with a Level 2 of autonomy in its driving.
Does this mean that it is able to maintain distance from the vehicle in front, to park autonomously, etc … and for this it has all the necessary sensors as can be seen in the photo
One of its great advantages is the ability to self-balance, so that it can be driven by people with relatively little experience in the world of motorcycles, and that makes it much safer to drive.
I understand that safety is a fundamental factor in a vehicle of these characteristics.
It is an electric vehicle with an autonomy of about 200 km and that can reach a speed of 80 km / h, which makes it ideal for driving in cities.
The price is unknown and the manufacturer is Chinese, so it is not known for sure when it will arrive in Europe. But what does seem clear is that it is another interesting new bet for traffic in cities.
And I am more than sure that other companies will present vehicles similar to this one.
What does seem clear to me is that the personal and urban vehicles of the future are going to be electric and to be classified in three main areas:
- Scooter / Bicycle
- Motorcycle
- Car
And this product enters in the intermediate niche.
